Daniel is Searchlight’s Managing Partner and is responsible for our media, entertainment and communications practice as well as the not for profit sector.
Before founding Searchlight, Daniel was Senior Client Partner at Korn/Ferry International, led their media and entertainment and Not-for-Profit practice and managed search assignments in both North America and the U.K.
He has been active in both the North American and British film and television industry, with over 30 years of experience as an entertainment executive across a broad range of media sectors.
Daniel has also worked out of London, England, where he was the CEO of Mayfair Entertainment International, a publicly traded media company active in UK Cinema exhibition, West End Theatres and Film & Television Sales.
He was also the Founder and President of Norstar Entertainment, a Canadian theatrical, video and television distribution company and Chairman of Toronto-based distribution company, Cinephile Limited.
Before that, Daniel was part of senior management at Cineplex Odeon Corporation and Astral Films Ltd. He’s provided advisory services to clients such as Nelvana, YTV, CBC, and Lions Gate Films, in addition to the Government of Canada. He was appointed by the Federal Minister of Communications (Heritage Canada) to the Roth/Raymond Film Industry Task Force.
Daniel was a Founder of both the Motion Picture Institute of Canada and the Association of Independent Owned Motion Picture Distributors. He has served on the board of Lions Gate Films, UK Limited and is an advisory board member of the British Independent Film Awards and a member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
